Celebrating Guru Purnima!

Guru Purnima is also known as Teachers’ Day in Nepal. On this day, students honor their teachers and the wisdom they bring into their students’ lives. At the Contact Centers, our students honored their teachers by presenting them with handmade cards, flowers, and performing dances.

The day was also a day of remembrance for the late Mrs. Bhuvaneshwori Satyal who established the Center for Child Studies and Development (CCSD), an early childhood education program for children of poor and migrant families. In 2009, CCSD and Mitrata became partners. After her passing, CCSD was renamed the Bhuvaneshwori Satyal Foundation (BSF) in her honor. Mrs. Satyal would have turned 89 this year.

Celebrations continued with both the teachers and the students enjoying a special lunch, followed by a beautiful (and delicious!) cake!

As an extra special addition to the day, the children at both Contact Centers were given their brand new school uniforms. They were very excited to try them on and looked very sharp in their new uniforms!

Thank you teachers! We hope you had a happy Teacher’s Day!
