Travel To Nepal
Overview
A Message from Executive Director and Founder, Dr. Christine Schutz:
“Each year in the autumn, we travel to Nepal to see our children and provide oversight for our programs supporting severely underprivileged children. We invite sponsors and friends to see first-hand the difference they have made to our children, as well as the rich culture, incredible natural beauty, diverse religious traditions, amazing art and architecture, and of course, the Himalayas of Nepal. We hope you can join us this year or next.”
Our trip is roughly two weeks in duration plus travel time. It is a combination of cultural tours, meeting our NGO partner BSF’s staff, spending time with the children, seeing how our programs operate and generally experiencing life in Nepal. Group travel is a chance to bond with other sponsors and deepen understanding of the impact of the Mitrata and BSF partnership.
We stay in moderately priced Nepali hotels in Kathmandu and surrounding areas. While in Nepal’s capital city, Kathmandu, we meet the children living at and studying in boarding schools, the Contact Center, and local schools. We also visit children living at home, and meet their parents and guardians. Together with our NGO partner, BSF, we take the younger children in our programs on a trip to the zoo or another fun attraction! Whenever possible, we visit local UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and other cultural sites and participate in day hikes, shopping and local cuisine.
