Planning for the Future
Mitrata staff, board members, and Bhuvaneswari Satyal Foundation’s (BSF) Executive Director Leena Satyal and Board President Yogesh Satyal recently gathered together for our Annual Strategic Planning meeting. This meeting was a chance for the whole team to gather together in person to focus on the priorities driving our 2026-2030 Strategic Plan and to hear updates from our partners in Nepal.

Updates from BSF
A large part of the morning was spent hearing updates from Yogesh and Leena about the state of Nepal and the BSF programs. Yogesh spoke on the 13-year history of BSF, Nepal’s current political climate, population trends, educational structure, and BSF’s board governance and management oversight. After Yogesh, Leena provided a deeper look into BSF’s organizational structure and offered a concise program overview, highlighting key activities and priorities. This enabled the board and staff to develop a more comprehensive understanding of BSF’s internal operations and the strategies they employ to enhance their support for the children they serve.
After lunch, board members split into smaller groups to explore BSF’s strategic priorities in greater depth, while also assessing what is working well, and identifying specific ways Mitrata can support targeted areas of growth. The board then reconvened for committee reports, followed by a facilitated group discussion where members shared key takeaways and future considerations from the day.
This year’s strategic planning meeting also welcomed in our newest Board Member, Melissa Alipalo. We are excited to have Melissa bring her knowledge, experience, and perspective to the team. Welcome Melissa!
