A wonderful time was had by all at Trivia Night 2023!

Trivia Night 2023 took place on Saturday, April 15th and was an absolute blast! A total of 35 teams competed in eight rounds of fun, fast-paced trivia. Attendees were able to shop the bazaar of fair-trade Nepali handicrafts, and participate in a 50/50 raffle. Trivia Night also featured a Fund-A-Need auction to purchase clean water for our Contact Center, a Discovery Field Trip for the older students, and a trip to the Fun Park including pizza and ice cream!

The attendees were able to hear from Founder Dr. Christine Schutz and BSF Executive Director Leena Satyal about the current work being done in the USA and Nepal and the upcoming plans for this year. They also watched a brand-new sponsor story video featuring Sponsorship Committee Chair Danny Williger and his sponsored child, Bikesh.

Through Trivia Night and our Fund-A-Need auction, we were able to raise over $28,000 for our three goals!

Unfortunately, we fell short of our goal of $36,000, which leaves our older children’s discovery field trip underfunded.

We would like to send 25 of our older children on a trip outside the city of Kathmandu. There they will enjoy day treks in the mountains and visits to museums and local temples.

This trip is important because our children have not had the opportunity to travel outside of their village or the area of Kathmandu where they reside, so their sense of their country is very limited. We want broaden their view and empower them to discover more about their culture, history, and the spectacular scenery of Nepal.

As always, the fan favorite round was Sink or Float. In this round, the teams are tasked with deciding whether 10 household items would… you guessed it… sink or float! This year, participants were challenged with items such as a hotdog, alarm clock, and padlock. If you have participated in Trivia Night in the past, you may have picked up a few helpful tips from our host Brian Agovino. One of the most commonly forgotten tips is this: Candy Never Floats!

We want to say a huge thank you to our Host: Brian Agovino, to our Event Sponsor: Hesse Martone, and to our Round Sponsors: Jennifer Rashet, Grace Linn, Toni Schmidt, James Craig, and Cookies by Kathy!

Thank you also to all our volunteers, child sponsors, donors, and friends of Mitrata. Trivia Night wouldn’t be possible without you.

Gale Wolff’s winning team was awarded a free table at Trivia Night 2024!

See you Saturday, May 4th for Trivia Night 2024!
