"Sponsors are like my parents": meeting

Today, Rick and I walked to the BSF offices to meet with some of the older Mitrata children. These are children working on their college degrees and are on the cusp of finding careers and launching into adulthood. The love they have for their sponsors is evident in their excitement when opening the letters from their sponsors and in their faces during the short videos we recorded. One by one, they thanked their sponsors saying things like: “you helped me become who I am today”, “I love you”, “I hope to meet you in Nepal”, or “I hope to see you again” for those whose sponsors have already visited Nepal. The difference a sponsor makes in a child’s life cannot be overestimated.

Later, Rick and I had dinner with the Leena, Yogesh, and some members of the BSF board.  The BSF board members we met included a retired college professor, a physician, and a retired airline executive.  We discovered there are many similarities between the diverse skills on our two boards and also how we plan and advise our organizations.
