Learning About the Daily Lives of our Students
While in Nepal, our Sponsor Trip participants have the opportunity to visit some of the schools our children attend. On this trip, they were able to visit Virinchi College and Reliance Residential School. They also visited Apex Girl’s Hostel, where a few of our older students live while they attend University.
Virinchi College offers a dynamic, innovation-driven campus in Kathmandu, where four Mitrata students will gain hands-on training in software engineering through its Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (BICT) program. The campus is known for hosting tech events like Robo Ramp Race and ICT Mela, where students showcase creations such as obstacle tracks and celestial-viewing cubes fostering creativity, collaboration, and real-world application. The BICT program is a rigorous four-year honors degree focused on software engineering, blending academic depth with practical lab-based learning. Students develop 360-degree skills in coding, testing, agile methodology, and customer-focused software design. Virinchi emphasizes problem-solving, innovation, and global standards, preparing graduates to become entrepreneurs or join top-tier tech firms. For Mitrata students, this means not only mastering technical competencies but also gaining exposure to a vibrant campus culture that encourages exploration, leadership, and meaningful impact.
Reliance Residential School in the Baneshwor neighborhood partners with Mitrata to provide more than 20 Mitrata children with access to a high-quality education and nurturing boarding environment. The school is known for its strong academic standards, well-rounded extracurricular programs, and supportive community that fosters both intellectual and personal growth. Through this collaboration, Mitrata children receive opportunities to study in a structured and encouraging setting that prepares them for future success while ensuring their well-being.
The Reliance program helps bridge the gap between disadvantaged backgrounds and quality education. The school’s holistic approach combining academics, moral development, and extracurricular activities aligns with Mitrata and BSF’s mission to empower children through education and holistic care. Together, we are creating pathways for these students to achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
Apex Girl’s Hostel in Kathmandu offers a secure, student-friendly environment ideal for three of Mitrata’s university students seeking a safe and welcoming home. Located in the Sankhamul Chowk, the hostel is surrounded by essential amenities and public transport access, making it convenient for older girls attending nearby colleges and universities. Apex is known for providing affordable, well-maintained, and community-oriented accommodations. The hostel offers single and shared rooms surrounding a central garden, nutritious meals, Wi-Fi, and quiet study areas, with an emphasis on safety and emotional well-being. For Mitrata’s older female students, Apex represents more than just a place to stay, it’s a stepping stone toward independence, academic focus, and a supportive peer environment in the heart of the city.
