Miles for Mitrata Kids 2023 Progress Update

We have officially completed the first month of Miles for Mitrata Kids (M4MK) 2023!

M4MK has historically been a month long fundraising event. In previous years, we received feedback from many individuals who would have liked to participate in Miles for Mitrata Kids but were busy throughout the month of June, or already had activities planned for other months. We took their feedback to heart and have expanded Miles for Mitrata Kids to allow more flexibility for more participants! This year, participants have the opportunity to choose their own duration between May 1, 2023 and November 30, 2023.

Our goal is for at least 50 participants to raise $30,000 for our Contact Center.

At the end of our first month we have reached nearly half our goal participants, and we are well on our way to raising our goal amount of funds!

Did you know you can make a donation to an individual, team, or simply the event itself? If you don’t know anyone who is participating, but would like to donate to M4MK and the Contact Center, donating to the event is the perfect way to do so!

All proceeds from Miles for Mitrata Kids will go directly to our Contact Center.

The Contact Center is an early childhood program that provides children 3-10 years old with an educational foundation in a nurturing, loving environment, similar to the Montessori model. The children enter at the preschool level and are taught basic skills, including reading, writing and an introduction to English. They are also provided with hygiene education, health care, and two high-quality protein-rich meals each day.

One year ago, BSF staff procured a new, larger building to expand our current Contact Center, as our previous space was insufficient to our expanding programmatic needs. The new, 3.5 story building houses our Contact Center, after-school programs, and older children’s transitional housing apartment. Outside of the larger space for programs, the outdoor area for play and enrichment and driveway for parking are also major improvements.

Because Miles for Mitrata Kids is a virtual event, participants are able to participate in any way they so choose. This allows for a great variety of participation methods. A few of the different activities we have seen in the past were:

  • Long-Distance Motorcycle Rides

  • Hiking/Trail Running

  • Walking

  • Bicycle Riding

  • Pull-Ups

  • Kayaking
