A First Meeting for Some, a Reunion for Others

Each year, shortly after arriving in Nepal, a very special dinner takes place. After much anticipation, Mitrata’s child sponsors and their sponsored children are able to sit across from one another and fellowship though conversation and a meal. For some, this dinner is a first meeting, taking place after many years of letter writing back and forth. For others, it is the warmest of reunions. No matter the individual circumstances, it is a time of joy for all!

Like all first meetings or reintroductions, the evening often starts with a bit of shyness from both parties, but after just a few minutes of smiles and good food, the conversation and laughter begin to flow. We’ll leave it to the quotes and photos below to truly represent the joy-filled hearts of those who were present at this special occasion.

“Tad and I could not have been more thrilled with our first meeting of Dolma and Bhuwan. We were extremely surprised by what an impact our letters have made. They seemed to remember every detail about us - even our grandson’s names!”

Child Sponsors

“I had the honor of meeting children that my family sponsors. It’s really amazing to see in person the direct impact we’ve had on their lives and the amazing work Mitrata and the BSF staff do. Hearing about it is one thing, but seeing it is truly special.”

“It was so special to meet Sakham for the first time. So many surprises for me including her command of the English language. She was so happy and talkative… just a ray of sunshine and gratitude that reinforced for me how glad I am that I made the decision to sponsor a child.”
