Shopping Til We Drop!

On my first day in Nepal, Leena and I hit the ground running — or rather perilously made our way through the crowded streets of Thamel dodging cars, motorbikes,  bicycle rickshaws, and water trucks!

We bought lots of Christmas items for the Holiday Bazaar, including felt and paper-mache ornaments and really cute stuffed animals. Leena had to drag me out of the shops when I started to get carried away!

We had really fun experiences, watching while a shop owner lit our pashmina on fire to prove it was real. We knew it was a real pashima from the way it smelled like hair burning! Leena did a great modeling job, too!

We ended at the shop to buy Nepali paper products made from the renewable resource the Lokta tree.

Whew! Back at the hotel at 7:30 pm and we collapsed! We had a great but long day, and we found amazing beautiful Nepali handicrafts for the Holiday Bazaar December 7th and 8th. I am so excited to bring back all of these goods!
