Plan to Make a Lasting Difference
If you would like to extend your support of our children and programs to make a lasting difference, there are several gift arrangements to choose from. Whether you would like to put your gift to work today or benefit our children and programs after your lifetime, you can find a charitable plan that best fits your needs.
Consider Making a Charitable Bequest
A charitable gift from your estate, stocks or retirement plan can help insure that Mitrata Nepal Foundation can continue to support education, healthcare and housing for underprivileged children in Nepal for the future. Such donations can also provide tax benefits for you and your family.
If you have held an appreciated stock or mutual fund for more than one year, you can donate those securities and receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the shares transferred. Doing this eliminates any capital gains assessments on the future sale of the securities. In some cases that could be as much as 23.8% in addition to a savings on state income tax.
Bequests From Wills/Revocable Living Trusts
Name Mitrata as beneficiary with a specific dollar amount or asset, or a percentage of your residual estate after you have provided for your loved ones.
Requesting a Change of Beneficiary form for your retirement plan, insurance policy or savings account, can be made online, by mail, or by phone. Name Mitrata-Nepal Foundation for Children, Inc. as a full or partial beneficiary and provide our tax identification number. Plans, policies or accounts will allow you to name a beneficiary for as little as 5%. Name Mitrata Nepal Foundation for Children on:
- Retirement plans [e.g., traditional IRA, Keogh, 401(k)]: as a primary beneficiary for single adults and a contingent beneficiary for married adults.
- Life insurance policies: as a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy, whether through your employer or a separate policy, or a new term life insurance policy.
- Bank savings or brokerage accounts: as a beneficiary Payable on Death (POD) on your bank and brokerage accounts.
