Our friends live in India, Nepal, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. Some are refugees from Tibet, Burma, and Afghanistan. They are socially responsible, and many are associated with co-ops, cottage industries, refugee camps, and hospitals. As a fair trade company, MacroSun provides jewelry, clothing, art work and artifacts. Through its galleries in the St. Louis area, MacroSun helps to support the Mitrata Nepal vision. Occidental United Eastern and Southern Transfers (OUEST) Occidental United Eastern and Southern Transfers (OUEST) is the St. Louis based nonprofit corporation administering the G3 project and the Seed Tree Project. This organization is an American 501(c)3 corporation whose mission is to help the disadvantaged in developing countries reach their maximum potential. Their unpaid Executive Board, in addition to a core of committed volunteers, allows the maximum of donated funds to go directly for expenses. 3 Summits for Nepal is a benefit climb of mountains in Washington State to raise money for charities that benefit the children of Nepal , including Mitrata-Nepal. To participate, climbers donate, or raise through personal sponsorships, a minimum of between $500 and $1000 each depending on how many mountains they climb. In 2006, 12 climbers raised over $8,000 which all went to Mitrata-Nepal. The three “summits” include 1. a glacier climbing skill seminar; 2. Mt. Baker , 10,700 feet; and 3. Mt. Rainier , 14,410 fee. Next year, we are making plans to climb a trekking peak in Nepal as one of the 3 summits.
