As our children reach 10th grade in Nepal, they are required to take the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) national exam. This exam determines their ability to continue with their education and what school they can attend. We provide a career plan and funding for children to continue their education as far as they are able. But universities and vocational schools cost additional money and there are exam and interim fees as well. So we have set up a scholarship fund for the future of our children, just as most American parents would try to do for their children.
Children are given increased responsibilities when they reach college age and a plan is drawn up for each child to work in the children’s home for spending money if needed in order to continue their education. Every effort is made to develop a specific plan that meets the need of the individual child. This is done in conjunction with the school administration and any significant family member, to determine the best career path for each child.
